Roadrunner Service Center is a family-owned business nestled just west of the mighty Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway right off of I-22 in Itawamba County. We pride ourselves in fostering a family environment built on the values of hard work and dedication.
Jay Morgan started more than 20 years ago as a one-person mobile truck mechanic in his small Toyota pickup. He began this to supplement their income while his wife, Michelle, was enrolled in nursing school. He continued to work full-time as a diesel mechanic at a public job while doing service calls at night. Jay’s vision became centered around providing around-the-clock road service. Early on, he enlisted the help of a partner to help, but his partner soon decided not to continue. After 2 1/2 years of doing the one-person show, he hired his first technician. Jay and his technician used the Toyota, a trailer, and an air compressor to change big truck tires and do repairs. His inventory only included four standard-sized big truck tires.
Due to the tremendous demand for his services, Jay decided in 2004 to expand the business. Michelle had completed her RN degree, so it was the perfect time to invest in his vision. Jay acquired a shop off South Adams Street in Fulton, MS, and began working on heavy equipment, pressure washing, and automotive repair. His business flourished, and in 2012, he had to expand again. Michelle joined in part-time while still nursing. A much larger facility was purchased in Peppertown off of I-22 to handle the growth and business development.
The company grew by leaps and bounds once it moved to the new location off of I-22. The business had expanded so much by 2013 that the demands on Michelle’s time as personnel manager/accountant/owner necessitated her joining Roadrunner Service Center full-time. In 2017, the Morgans built a new shop to handle repairs on trucks, trailers, RVs, and construction equipment. This expansion freed up space to begin doing body work on autos and big trucks. In 2018, their son, Joey Hayes, completed his military service to join the family business. He currently manages the auto and body shops while helping with the towing. Jay and Michelle’s daughter, Summer, works after school to help with the family business.
Roadrunner Service Center is now an authorized Bad Boy lawn mower and tractor dealer. This new sales line has created many satisfied customers looking for local dealers for lawn and garden equipment.
Currently, Roadrunner Service Center has 35 employees, including 20 highly skilled technicians, five fully equipped roadside service trucks for emergency and on-site repairs, three light-duty tow trucks, and one heavy-duty tow truck, available 24/7!
